The recent graduates of our second English Literacy Programme Certificate Ceremony were celebrated in the 14 June 2017 edition of the Tabletalk community newspaper.
Supporting them, in true festive fashion, was the school choir, who sang for their fellow learners with passion and enthusiasm.
Summer Jacobs, from Tabletalk, attended the event and took the opportunity to chat with volunteers, parents and learners. She really spent some time understanding the effort and team work that has led to the success of this programme, as well as the other programmes that Rogz Academy Books and Beyond are running at Sophakama.
We want to assist Sophakama in becoming one of the Western Cape’s leading schools by changing it from an under-performing to a well-performing school! We have a sustainable plan in place to do this and we work together with the school and teachers to implement appropriate programmes to achieve these goals.
Check out our website here to see what other work is happening at the school.
The help of our volunteers and the goodwill of our community has got us this far, but we are looking forward to moving ahead with more funding and support!
