Penpal Project connects kids

There has been a regular exchange of letters between Sophakama Primary School and Elkanah House for our PenPal Project. What an awesome way for these two communities to connect!

Every year, Elkanah House Blouberg campus hosts some of the Sophakama Primary Grade 2s for a morning of fun and games. The friendships that arose from this special day spent together last year, prompted the start of the PenPal Project. The added benefit is that the Elkanah learners practise their isiXhosa writing skills and the Sophakama learners practise their English writing skills.

It’s wonderful to see how excited the children are to write their letters to each other. These photos show the Elkanah learners replying to the letters they recently received from their buddies at Sophakama. We’ll have some photos of Sophakama learners responding soon!
