Hugs, smiles and high fives welcomed us at Sophakama Primary School today when we started our reading sessions for 2018.
These Grade 3 learners have been participating on the English Literacy Programme since July 2017 and have another 6 months to go. They spend a year working with their volunteer twice a week, practising their English reading, speaking, writing and comprehension skills.
The learners’ enthusiasm for the programme was evident in their desire to show volunteers how much they had learnt or remembered since our last visit. My learners couldn’t wait to get out their writing books and our game time was spent having lots of fun with a memory game.
Another volunteer was handed a little welcome note. What a lovely reminder to all of us that this is heart warming and rewarding work!
We thank our volunteers for their continued support and commitment to the programme. Without you we wouldn’t be able to keep it going.
Volunteer today and be part of the change at Sophakama Primary School!
