Taking time out of busy schedules to be a volunteer can be challenging, but the rewards far outweigh the effort of doing so.
Seeing a child’s face light up when they learn something new and the pride you feel when they remember something you’ve shown they cannot be described. And there’s always the knowledge that you are making a difference in the world.
As one volunteer said: “I’ve really enjoyed being around the other volunteers because we’re all like-minded people, who just want to make a small difference. It’s been quite inspiring to meet and chat with everyone (even if it’s just in the car to and from the school!).”
We celebrate the people who volunteer for our reading programme. Come and share the experience!
