The Social Innovation Challenge is always a highlight on the calendar for the Yebo programme and this year is no exception.
Each week a task is given to Yeboneers. During this process schools are divided into POD’s or sections where they ‘compete’ against each other through completing these tasks. Each week a winner is announced. This creates a lot of excitement amongst the youth.
The challenge for 2020 is: “With the Disruption to the 2020 school year, how can learners from no and low fee schools continue their educational journey.” With this topic in mind, their first task was to design a resource to explain Social Innovation and Design Thinking to their peers. We were very excited that Sophakama Primary was chosen as runner up in their POD. They each received a R100 cash voucher for their efforts. Well done!
